House of Peace

The House of Peace Shelter provides a secure, temporary residence for Latina women and children suffering from domestic violence. Our vision is to provide a haven for healing and build the foundation for successful independence for families.

Domestic Violence Counseling

We offer confidential individual counseling for youth and adults and group meetings for adults who have/are experiencing domestic violence.

Domestic Violence Support Group

Any adult resident of Cook or Lake counties who has experienced or is experiencing domestic violence is eligible for our free and confidential group. Come learn more about domestic violence, meet others with similar experiences, share your story, and be a part of a supportive community.

This group has open enrollment and meets weekly on Mondays from 5pm to 6pm via Zoom. Contact us to register.

DCFS / Domestic Violence Curriculum for Parents

This is a free and confidential group for adults (residents of Cook and Lake counties) who have/are experiencing domestic violence and are parenting.

This group will provide psychoeducation on the dynamic and effects domestic violence has on individuals and families, skills to nurture children who have witnessed domestic violence, and practice self-care. This curriculum is also intended for individuals involved with the DCFS system, either in Intact Family Services, or Foster Care. Certificates are available upon completion.

  • Mental health services (therapy)
  • Case management and advocacy
  • Domestic violence support groups
  • DCFS/DV curriculum group
  • Referral and linkages to Catholic Charities programs for assistance with legal aid, food, health care, shelters, and housing

Training and Outreach

We provide communities with outreach and training on the dynamics of domestic violence, best practices for screening, community education, and seminars on healthy relationships. Our domestic violence programs are certified supervision sites and approved CEU providers for domestic violence professionals in Illinois.
