Understanding the Intersection of Abortion Access and Domestic Violence
Reproductive autonomy is a fundamental human right, yet survivors of domestic violence often face significant barriers to making informed choices about their bodies, pregnancies, and futures. This workshop will introduce participants to the Reproductive Justice framework, explore the connections between domestic violence and abortion access, and provide actionable strategies for supporting survivors navigating reproductive coercion and abortion restrictions.
The session will include:
- A brief introduction to the Reproductive Justice framework and the work of the Abortion Fund of Ohio.
- A personal narrative on abortion and domestic violence, illustrating how abuse impacts reproductive experiences.
- A deep dive into the intersection of and reproductive autonomy, including forced pregnancies, reproductive coercion, and barriers to abortion access.
- Practical strategies and resources to support survivors seeking abortion care.
By the end of this session, participants will have a stronger understanding of how reproductive oppression intersects with domestic violence, and will be equipped with tools to better advocate for survivors seeking reproductive healthcare.
