Trauma Informed Yoga

Yoga has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety. It can also enhance your mood and overall sense of well-being. Practicing yoga may lead to improved balance, flexibility, range of motion and help you achieve peacefulness of body and mind.

This two-hour workshop is meant to provide participants with some healthy practices that can be used when existing in stressful environments. Learn techniques that can to help you in your journey to a healthier state of mind, body and spirit.

By the end of this workshop, you will…

  • Learn yoga poses that promote strength and flexibility and grounding.
  • Be able to use your breath to relax the body and quiet the mind.
  • Learn how meditation can help you be more mindful and aware of the moment, without judgment.

What should I bring to class? Bring your yoga mat, large bath towel, and any other props you may use in your practice. Wear comfortable clothes that will allow you to move freely.

Lu Rocha is a bilingual bicultural licensed clinical social worker and registered yoga instructor. Because Lu has worked with clients from a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds, she is dedicated to addressing trauma from a cultural perspective, honoring the different ways that individuals heal. When applicable, Lu offers yoga as a tool to her clients to use on their journey to a healthier mental health.
