Intimate Partner Violence and Clinical Considerations

March 20, 2025 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

This training on intimate partner violence (IPV) and clinical considerations is designed for clinicians and support staff who want to enhance their ability to work one-on-one with survivors in clinical settings. The objective is to provide a deeper understanding of IPV’s impact on mental health and to offer effective therapeutic strategies, particularly through Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Participants will learn how DBT skills, such as emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness, can be tailored to support survivors of domestic violence in their healing journey. The training will include case examples, role-playing, and practical demonstrations of DBT techniques to engage survivors effectively during sessions. Clinicians will gain hands-on practice skills to help survivors manage trauma, regulate emotions, and navigate relationships.

By the end of the training, participants will be better equipped to provide compassionate, trauma-informed care, improving their confidence in working directly with IPV survivors in clinical settings.
