As we near celebrating 50 years of supporting our community, Mujeres Latinas en Acción invites you to join us for a Virtual 5k on October 1 to kick-off Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Domestic Violence Outreach of the Archdiocese of Chicago is hosting the 7th Annual Domestic Violence Survivors’ Mass at Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago! Help us kick off Domestic Violence Awareness Month by coming out on October 1 to show support and raise awareness for this important cause. The Queen of All Saints and St. Mary of the Woods Social Justice Ministries invite you to a Mass in Honor of Survivors of Domestic Violence & Informational Reception on October 12 with ACDVO Director, Father Chuck Dahm. Join us after Mass for refreshments with Fr. Charles Dahm in the Holy Name Room to learn more about ACDVO and how to better respond to domestic violence in our parishes. A Q&A session will follow.
This is Arab American Family Services’ 15th Annual Walk In Faith Not In Fear Walk, against domestic violence and cancer. For years, we have educated, brought awareness, advocated, and have helped save lives of those who have been impacted. We hope together, we can end domestic violence and cancer, and give love and support to our survivors and their families. We are asking you to WALK WITH US! Join us at our 15th walk and spread the word. The walk will take place on Saturday, October 8 at Lake Katherine in Palos Heights.
St. Hubert Catholic Parish will be hosting guest speakers, including survivor LaTasha Unseld, Megan Wiesner of Wings and Father Dahm of the Archdiocese of Chicago Domestic Violence Outreach to address domestic violence awareness and what a healthy relationship looks like on October 15.
Stand Tall will be held on Saturday, October 15 at 7:00 p.m. at the Oak Park Country Club. The evening, hosted by Sarah’s Inn, will include cocktails, small plates, desserts, entertainment, and a live and silent auction. Tickets are $175/person.

Please join The Network on October 24 for a free virtual lunch and learn focusing on the continuum of harms that survivors face in housing. As a group, we will evaluate and discuss harms that survivors of violence face in accessing and maintaining housing. After identifying the spectrum of harm, we will review legal and policy protections and solutions to mitigate harms to survivors and encourage safe housing for all.

This free Legislative Advocacy Training on October 28 will provide an overview of the legislative process, rules for lobbying, and how to maximize your advocacy efforts. It will conclude with a brief overview of upcoming priorities for The Network.

During this Online Abuse Training, we will cover how people who harm use technology to gain power and control and what survivors can do to recognize this abuse and develop safety plans.
