Mónica Ruiz Almazán
VAWA Transfer Manager
Mónica Ruiz Almazán serves as the VAWA Transfer Manager at The Network: Advocating Against Domestic Violence. She supports the Housing Advocacy team by implementing the new SAFE pilot program to assist survivors in DOH-funded housing needing emergency transfers under VAWA.
Prior to joining The Network, Mónica interned at the Chicago Community Trust, a community foundation dedicated to closing the racial & ethnic wealth gap in the Chicago region. At the trust, she played an active role in grant management and data analysis to improve strategies aimed at enhancing financial stability in marginalized communities. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Geography from Dartmouth College along with a minor in Latin American, Latino & Caribbean Studies. Mónica is bilingual, fluent in both Spanish and English. Her experience spans research, data management, philanthropic stakeholder engagement, and community outreach. Mónica is a passionate social justice advocate with a particular regard for the interactions between systemic violence and gender-based violence.
