Maralea Negron
Executive Vice President of Policy and Impact
Maralea Negron serves as the Executive Vice President of Policy and Impact for The Network: Advocating Against Domestic Violence. As the Executive Vice President of Policy and Impact, Maralea works to shape and advance the organization’s public policy agenda while elevating its visibility among key stakeholders, partner organizations and the broader public.
Her advocacy efforts have been focused on strengthening social safety nets and public safety protections for survivors. While prioritizing survivor’s lived experiences and grounding it in data through Measuring Safety reports, her work centers on telling a fuller story that reveals the systemic conditions that allow gender-based violence to persist.
In partnership with survivors, community partners and The Network team, her leadership has led to the passage of Karina’s Law, creating coerced debt relief opportunities and expanding Illinois’ TANF support for survivors of gender-based violence. Maralea has served on the Guardianship and Advocacy Commission of the Illinois Department of Human Rights, investigating cases of rights violations for persons with disabilities. She has a B.A. in Political Science and Minor in Latin American Studies from Eastern Illinois University and an M.A. in Public Policy from the University of Chicago.
